LEGAL BIO
As an active member of the RPTE (Real Property Trust and Estate) Section of the American Bar Association, Mr. Saltz served on the Supervisory Council and the Community Outreach Committee, which provides supplementary legal education to attorneys who are members of minority bar associations. He currently serves on the Groups and Substantive Committees, the Standing Committee, and as liaison to the Real Estate Financing Group. He was one of the principal organizers and teachers of community outreach courses offered in Chicago. He served as the co-chair of that committee and as a member of an RPPT Task Force seeking to improve the quality and relevance of property courses in law schools. He has served as vice chair, then later co-chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee of the Real Estate Division of the Section and as chair of various substantive committees and, for two years, as chair of the Leasing Group of the Section.
Mr. Saltz has lectured extensively on real estate related subjects. For over 20 years he lectured about leases at least once yearly to brokers taking courses offered by the SIOR (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors). He has participated in numerous panels at educational programs offered by RPTE, including programs dealing with options in leases, security deposits, insurance, subleases and assignments.

He is particularly gratified to have represented the American Bar Association when they relocated their offices to Lake Shore Drive in Chicago, IL. He has represented numerous borrowers in connection with construction and permanent financing, and has represented such lenders as Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company, The Northern Trust Company and LaSalle Bank.
Mr. Saltz handled all the legal work in connection with the land acquisition, construction financing, leasing and disposition (by contribution to an UP-REIT) of a 1.2 million square foot office and retail complex in a Chicago suburb. He represented landlords in leasing tens of millions of square feet of industrial space for 40+ years. Mr. Saltz practices in the area of commercial real estate. On August 4, 2009 he commenced his own practice as Sidney G. Saltz, P.C. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois. He has been involved, on behalf of foreign and domestic clients, in all types of commercial real estate transactions, including development, leasing, acquisition and sale, financing, 1031 exchanges and construction contracts. He has represented clients in industrial, office and retail leasing, as well as in ground leases, hotel purchases and sales, movie theater leases, land purchases and sales and the purchase and sale of large apartment complexes. He has created partnerships, limited liability companies and other joint ventures. He has dealt with construction contracts, on behalf of owners and contractors.

Personal Bio
Mr. Saltz received his Bachelor of Arts degree, with Highest Distinction, from Northwestern University. He went on to receive his law degree, cum laude, from Yale Law School, where he served on the Yale Law Journal.
Prior to commencing the private practice of law, Mr. Saltz clerked for J. Edward Lumbard, the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit in New York City, NY.
